How important is branding to an actor? Will it set you apart with casting directors? Will it get you better auditions? Will it help you nab more call backs? Will it ultimately get you that star on the Hollywood walk of fame?
It absolutely can help. Branding for actors makes it easier for people to see where you fit into the casting pool. And thus makes you more castable. In that same vein, we’ve been doing a lot of re-branding here at AIA recently and that’s because we seek to be the the leader in helping you become a successful actor.
First of all we’re changing our name! We loved our name before (Actors In Action Professional Actor Training) but we started to realize it didn’t really reflect our vision of having a world-class conservatory for actors worldwide. Since we want to be an acting conservatory we decided to add that to our name. And we didn’t want to be pigeon holed just into theatre training or pegged as film actors only, because we believe the basis of great acting, such as AIA’s Liechty Technique teaches, branches into both film and theatre greatness. So our new name reflects all that. And here it is – drum roll please – we’d like to announce: Actors In Action Conservatory of Film and Theatre.
Our goal is to grow into a two year conservatory with a reputation that skyrockets actors into the most sought after film jobs and theatre productions in the major markets. We’ve started by bringing on Barrett Ogden as an additional teacher of the Liechty Technique. His training and knowledge of voice and movement for acting will be invaluable. Barrett will be doing some wonderful workshops for us before he starts teaching the AIA Technique Classes. Those workshops will explore the works of Feldenkrais , Grotowski, Arthur Lessac, to name a few.
We hope you will join us in witnessing the inspiring story of our growth as we document and share it with passionate actors all over the world.
