Before aIAC

Barbara found AIAC by attending one of our Jennifer Buster workshops. Then living in SLC, she had a local agent that was getting her out from time to time, but she just wasn’t booking like she wanted to.

Although she had some natural talent, her acting skills just weren’t strong enough to make her stand out. Often falling into the category of a “showy” actor in her work, she struggled to bring her real self to a role. She thought because acting looked so easy, it wouldn’t take much to get good at it, that is until she started training. Once in classes she began to understand the work and dedication it takes to develop real skill.

Work Ethic

So she worked hard, showing up week after week in class. Turning in her weekly class self-tape auditions, getting feedback. Getting good at her memorization skills. Working the magic of the Liechty Acting Technique and that’s when things started to turn around for her.

Booking

Before she even got moved up to our Intermediate Level of training, Barbara started booking more through her local agent—commercials and some short films. Motivated, she started looking for more opportunities and signed up for Actors Access and Backstage. She started building up her reel. Seeing there were certain roles she didn’t have in her clips, she took advantage of AIAC’s reel creation program and shot some. One clip featured her as an Alzheimer’s patient and after directly submitting that to casting she was offered a callback. Ultimately, she had to turn down the project as they were filming in London. She booked more commercials and short films, finally landing her first independent feature which she shoots this month. Plus, through the connections she made with AIAC she got introduced to LA agent, Jackie Lewis at LB Talent. Barbara just signed with them and is now being sent out in the LA market.

“My growth as an actor is definitely because of AIAC and Julie-Anne Liechty’s dedication. She’s taken me to a skill level that has gotten me consistently booking and into a major market. If you want to become a true actor, Julie-Anne is the teacher and coach that can get you there.”
