#TechniqueTuesday – Congrats Brendan Fraser!
What a thrill it was to see him win on Sunday. Brendan Fraser has always struck me as a hard-working actor with passion and ability. When he burst on the scene in the 90’s with Encino Man, George of the Jungle and The Mummy, I for one was swept off my feet. He was handsome and fun, talented and gracious. But, guys, an acting career can be so difficult. Life can be brutal. Apparently several things hit him hard, a divorce, death of a parent, health issues, and more. For the next decade or so in his words, “the phone stopped ringing.”
But his passion for acting, his desire to work never went away. I think that is the truth of every actor out there. WE ALL WANT TO ACT. It’s innate in us and won’t leave us alone, that inner voice urging us to our destiny. Brendan kept listening to his inner voice. I’m sure it wasn’t easy—what’s harder than a comeback in Hollywood? But now here he is with an Oscar on his mantel.
Will it be smooth sailing for him now? Probably not. Will he still have to work and not just wish? Absolutely. But along with his Oscar he also has the experience of having persevered. And that is priceless. That is powerful. Can’t wait to see what new roles he’ll dazzle us with!
Viva Brendan!
