Before aIAC

Rylee Jensen-Nelson started classes last year at AIAC. She was full of passion for acting, had a great look and was ready to work hard. Only thing was she had little training and a few bad acting habits . . . her talent was hidden by “showiness” and “pushing” her emotions. She knew things weren’t working as well as she’d like them to. She was with a fledgling local agent that didn’t get her out much, didn’t really return her calls or emails, and she just wasn’t booking. Plus she noticed the limited opportunities of a smaller market like Salt Lake.

Training

As she started training at AIAC she began to see what great acting was all about, being a real human being in an imaginary circumstance—not trying to “push” or “show” emotions or being a “character” instead of someone real. The lightbulb went off for Rylee and she started working the exercises of the Liechty Acting Technique, developing her skills & dropping those old bad habits. Through the classes she also made some great actor friends. She started shooting reels, building her clips, and joined Hollywood Winners Circle in LA. With fellow AIAC actors Jacqueline Cabrera and Oksana Parham she wrote, acted in, and directed the short film The Yellow Room which won first place in The Hollywood Winner’s Circle Film Festival. The short was also accepted into NoHoCineFest and awarded two honorable mentions from the Zepstone International Film Festival for: Best Supporting Actress and Best First Time Director.

Booking

Because of her increased skills she had started booking! Print work, commercials, some short/student films. Unfortunately, her current agent decided to close their doors. With no agent, Rylee decided it was time to find a new one. Getting referrals to top local agents here in SLC she reached out to them. She’d submitted to these agencies before in years past with little luck, however this time was different—probably due to her amazing headshots, great clips, and growing resume. Turns out she not only got interest from the two Salt Lake agencies, but she also got an offer from a third agent as well! Through her LA connections a few weeks before, she had been introduced to Peter Yanke at Phirgun Mair Worldwide. She had really wanted to sign with him . . . and after they had a meeting, everything fell into place! Now she’s being sent out for projects not just in SLC but from LA to Atlanta and beyond.

So far Rylee has booked over 28 projects in various markets, including a lead in a mini-series and a lead in an upcoming local horror film. Even with her success she knows her path has just started, and she continues to attend classes at AIAC and train hard.
